A company buying and processing stanniferous minerals, Jia Xin, was officially inaugurated Friday in Bukavu by the head of the mining division of South Kivu.
Jia Xin has modern equipment consisting of crushers, crushers, magnetic separators as well as an electric scale with a capacity of at least 1500 kilograms.
It currently employs a dozen people and collaborates with cooperatives in order to buy at a reasonable price and to treat the stanniferous minerals produced by the artisanal miners, explained in an interview with Radio Okapi, Kasongo Bwana Ndeke , Responsible for the administration and marketing of this company.
To ensure the traceability of its productions, Jia Xin said to have joined the ITRI, an NGO that ensures the traceability of minerals in the region. “All the products we are buying, upstream and downstream, each bag produced is tagged to facilitate traceability,” Kasongo said.
Stanniferous minerals are raw materials that contain tin. These include cassiterite, coltan and wolframite.
